In another server today, I lost an Amazon EBS block. This block was part of a linux LVM structure. I think I am sunk here. Seems like there is no good way to deal with this. Is it me or does Linux LVM structure suck? Need a PHd in it to get it to work. At least now I have a plan for partitioning. Use zfs with no LVM and use a huge 1TB EBS. You have to pay whether you allocate space or not. Then just snapshot daily as backup.
Just watched an SAP Labs guy do a demo of a power saw that was tweeting. It didn’t work. I don’t think people should tweet, much less powertools.
Interesting article writeup on CNET http://news.cnet.com/8301-19882_3-10357245-250.html I’m glad that Mr. Needleman managed to understand we’re not Twitter. Out of 70 companies he picked Dekks and 12 others as ones to watch!
We saw some of the other companies present today. Interesting stuff. One company called their main page “Pulse”. That sucks I guess we’ll have to trademark a new word and use it so that we won’t have overlap. “Pweet” “Poot”… nah.
Did our DEMOfall dry run this afternoon. Everything went well technically except that I sucked. Guy said I should be “cheesy”. That’s a tough one. I’ll try smiling more. It was a bit nerve racking because the stage is huge. I felt like Lou Gerstner for a split second.
Got into San Diego finally (after over 24 hours of travel). Here’s some pointers, don’t fly Mexicana airlines if you are Brazilian and don’t have a visa. They hold your passport during the flight and then escort you through the airport. On the other hand, they serve Chilaquiles for breakfast, so that’s good.

Heroku update was done and all is well. One thing that bites is not having any database control except for via Rails console. Desperately seeking an Active Record based data manager. We are now using wildcard ssl with *.dekks.com!
Deploying everthing to Heroku today. Cross your fingers…..
